1. Currently Residing in The Surrounding Areas of Cryomate’s Sites

To ensure ease of access to our clinic for regular donations and screenings, we require our donors to reside in the surrounding area of the sperm bank. Additionally, we are excited to announce that we will soon become the first and only sperm bank to offer options that allow for the comfort and convenience of donating from home.

2. Age 21-39

Age plays a significant role in sperm health, which is why we welcome donors who are between the ages of 21 and 39. While FDA regulations allow donors between 18 and 39, we restrict the donation age to 21.

3. Be In General Good Health 

Maintaining good health is essential for sperm donation. Donors must be in good physical and mental health and have no history of serious illness that could potentially affect the health of donor-conceived children.

4. Willing to Commit to 1–3 Donations Per Week

We ask our donors to commit to 1–3 donations per week. This frequency ensures a sufficient supply of high-quality sperm while also accommodating our donors' schedules and well-being.

What Does the Application and Screening Process for Sperm Donors Involve?

We are committed to providing all our donors with a seamless and straightforward process. We value donors’ time and dedication, and our team is focused on ensuring the experience is both easy and meaningful. 

Here are the steps you can expect:

 1. Initial Online Application  

The first step is completing a very short online questionnaire about your medical history and basic personal information.

2. Semen Analysis

If you meet the initial requirements, you’ll be asked to provide a semen sample in our clinic to determine the quality of your sperm and its suitability for freezing. The semen analysis focuses on evaluating 4 key aspects: your sperm count, motility (the ability of your sperm to move), morphology (the shape and structure of your sperm), and the survival rate post-freezing and thawing. Candidates that meet our laboratory's internal criteria will move on to the next stage.

3. Medical Screening

After passing the semen analysis stage, you'll be invited to complete the FDA screening, which includes a medical evaluation, physical examination, and blood and urine tests for infectious diseases. You’ll also get to chat with our Genetic Counselor to get information on the genetic screening we do. After that, we’ll take a swab for a genetic conditions screening – don’t worry, it’s painless! And guess what? You’ll get a full report on your medical health, a keepsake you can treasure forever. Just contact our staff and ask for a copy of the results – it’s all yours!

4. Mental Health Session and Background Check 

As a potential sperm donor, you'll have an online session with our dedicated mental health professional to discuss the donation program and evaluate your mental health. This session is designed to confirm your understanding of the donation process and its implications, ensuring a positive experience.

We’ll also conduct a background check to verify the accuracy of the information you provided, such as your criminal record and education.

You made it to the Donation Program - What Can You Expect During the Sperm Donation Cycle?

Participation

Once accepted, donors typically donate 1-3 times a week for a minimum period of 6 to 12 months. This is important for collecting enough samples. Our team will work with you to accommodate your schedule and book appointments to fit your availability. 

Lifestyle Guidelines

Donors are advised to maintain a healthy lifestyle throughout the donation process to ensure the highest quality sperm. Key components such as balanced nutrition, avoiding harmful substances, and ensuring adequate sleep are essential. These practices not only enhance sperm quality but also contribute to the success of donations.

Abstinence 

Donating sperm is a straightforward procedure, but it requires abstinence from ejaculation for 2-7 days before each donation to maximize sperm quality. This period of abstinence helps ensure that the sperm collected is of the highest possible quality, contributing to the success of the donation process.
